Spawn

SPAWN
I like this character and wanted to draw him. The cape was the hard part, as Spawn has an enormous cape that is always flowing and epic, so that was a bit tricky. I like the gladiator-like armor he has on his shin so I was sure to include that. I definitely left out some of the finer elements of his suit, such as the small skulls on his cape or the chains around him. The main reason for this is that I drew him off memory, which I do not ever recommend to anyone. When you draw with a reference you will draw better, but today I just wanted to sit down with some peace and quiet and crank out a drawing, so I didn't bother do an internet search of the character, I will next time I draw him though.

Spawn is an anti-hero created by Todd McFarlane for Image Comics. I have a lot of the comics, though I haven't read them all yet. Overall I recommend the comic series if you like comics that have some metal themes like chains and demons. And check out the HBO cartoon which stars Keith David who is the perfect voice for Spawn.
